What is the process for awarding a BrightStar Care franchise?

BrightStar Care strives to ensure that every new franchisee is a great fit for the brand, and vice versa. We want to ensure that each owner will enjoy what they do on a day-to-day basis and have the strongest chance possible to be a success. That is why we follow a process that not only helps you learn about us, but helps us learn about you as well. This is a very important step before awarding a franchise. Read on to learn how to start a BrightStar Care franchise.

Here is what the process looks like:

Step 1: You fill out the form on this site

Once you’ve learned a little about BrightStar Care and you are ready to learn even more, fill out one of the forms on this site. You’ll receive an email from us with an invitation to download our free franchise report, which is a document that explains our business model and opportunity in detail. You can email or print and share with friends, family and others who can help you decide if we’re the right opportunity for you.

Step 2: Initial Call

Expect a five minute call from us so that we can learn about you and ask some basic questions. Our goal is not only to ensure that you are interested and able to start a BrightStar Care franchise, but that we are right for you as well. After that, we’ll schedule another call to discuss the business model in detail.

Step 3: Interview call

This is a slightly longer call from us so that we can learn more about you and ask some basic questions and enable you to ask questions of us. This is also an opportunity for prospective franchisees to discuss specific territories in-depth.

Step 4: Winning Formula

This is typically a 30-60 minute call during which we will outline the industry and what makes our business model strong and positioned for continued success. We’ll also discuss additional details about the BrightStar Care business model and answer questions you may have about the business and franchise opportunity. It’s a great chance for you to get a feel for whether this is a business in which you would thrive.

If at this point you and BrightStar Care are ready to move forward, we will ask you to fill out a franchise application. Note that this is not a contract, but is a tool that we use to evaluate franchisees. This helps us ensure that we bring on strong business partners who will strengthen the brand.

Step 5: Review of Franchise Disclosure Document

During this webinar, we will explore the elements of the Franchise Disclosure Document, which outlines key points in the franchise agreement, and answer questions you may have about the agreement.

Step 6: Franchisee Interviews

At this stage you are invited to interview some of our current franchisees. We will help you get in touch with owners who can answer your questions about us.

Step 7: Discovery Day

Next, you will be invited to a Discovery Day in Gurnee, Illinois. You’ll meet our management team, learn about the systems and support that we provide to help our franchisees, and meet several of the team members who will support you if you choose to become a franchisee.


Step 8: Executive Call

Following Discovery Day, BrightStar Care President and COO Thom Gilday will contact the franchise candidate to ensure all their questions have been answered, that financing has been arranged, and that the candidate understands the fulltime commitment of becoming a BrightStar Care franchisee. We want to ensure all due diligence has been completed, and you are set up for success.

Step 8: Franchise Agreement

Expect a formal invitation to become a franchisee. It’s time to celebrate and to get busy starting your new business!

Step 9: Getting ready to open

Once your franchise agreement is signed, the real work begins! We will provide you criteria to help select a great location, and will then review the location to ensure it fits the characteristics needed for success. We will provide you with checklists to follow as you work to get your business open. Our BrightStart training and support team will also begin working with you to help you master the knowledge that will help you get off to a strong start. We will be with you every step of the way.
